A Deer Park ambulance crashed into a smoke shop this morning, injuring three people and clogging a major roadway during rush hour, Suffolk officials said.
The circumstances of the crash were still being investigated. Fire communications officials said the ambulance was responding to a call when it crashed at 8:35 a.m. into Kristy’s Smoke Shop Incorporated at 1836 Deer Park Ave.
No one at the store could be reached this morning.
Three people were taken to local hospitals but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Suffolk police said traffic on Deer Park Avenue was diverted to Lake Avenue — the intersection where the accident occurred — for about 30 minutes.
