ATLANTA — An ambulance in Georgia was stolen Wednesday when paramedics left it with the engine running while responding to a call.

The emergency vehicle belonging to Grady Memorial Hospital was found in a ditch a few blocks away from where it was parked in front of apartments in southeast Atlanta. Medics had gone inside to respond to a patient.

“Once (the paramedics) returned, the vehicle was missing,” Lt. Antonio Clay told WSB-TV. “Nothing was missing out of the ambulance; it just had been crashed.”

Police are now looking for the person who stole the ambulance, with reports suggesting a boy as young as 12 was seen fleeing the scene after the ambulance crashed into the ditch.
