FILLMORE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The paramedic who suffered a critical injury in a head-on crash with a pickup truck Sunday was able to give a thumbs-up to friends and family just days after the accident.
Tim Hoffman, who has worked with AMR for 11 years, was riding in the back of an ambulance without a seatbelt when a truck veered over the centerline and collided into the ambulance. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but on Monday morning, a fellow AMR medic released a hopeful update on Hoffman’s condition.
“Tim’s still sedated but he gave a “thumbs up” this morning and moving all extremities,” paramedic John Hoffman wrote. “Please continue prayers, THEY ARE WORKING!! And thanks again for the support.”
Kevin Jongekryg, the paramedic who was driving the ambulance, is in fair condition at Holland Hospital, according to Michigan Live News.
The driver of the pickup truck, whose name has not been released, is in “serious but stable” condition.
