BOSTON — The family of a toddler who was killed by an ambulance identified the girl as 2-year-old Isabella Wu.

The Boston Globe reported that Isabella was returning with her mother and older sister to their apartment across from the Tufts Medical Center ambulance entrance when an EasCare ambulance struck her. Isabella was rushed inside the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officials said crash reconstruction is ongoing and no charges have been filed yet.

“It’s just a heartbreaking situation,” Tufts Medical Center spokeswoman Brooke Hynes said.

Officer Rachel McGuire declined to say how fast the ambulance was traveling down the street and that information would not be released unless speed proved to be a factor in the crash, according to the report.
