COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — An ambulance was hit by a car while responding to an emergency, causing major traffic delays near Academy Boulevard and Platte Avenue, according to Colorado Springs police.
The ambulance had its lights and sirens on when it was hit around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Colorado Springs police Sgt. Joel Kern. It does not appear that anyone was injured in the crash, he said.
It is unknown where the ambulance was responding to, and what became of that call.
There have been major traffic problems in the area, and southbound Academy Boulevard has been closed just north of Platte Avenue. At least two other crashes have been reported from people not slowing down quick enough, Kern said.
