SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A woman being transported to a hospital in an ambulance that was T-boned by a car Friday has died.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner confirmed Saturday that Jessie Lucear, 72, died shortly after the crash, which happened just before 11 a.m. on North Loop 1604 West and Shaenfield Road.

It was unclear exactly what role the collision played in Lucear’s death, if any.

The ambulance was making a left turn at a green traffic light onto Shaenfield Road from Loop 1604.

A woman identified by police as Helen Madigan, 59, failed to stop at a red light and crashed into the ambulance, according to SAPD

Madigan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

Police said they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
