RAPID CITY, S.D. — An ambulance crash sent a paramedic to the hospital Monday afternoon.
Black Hills Fox reported that the Rapid City Fire Department ambulance was on its way to a medical call when the crash occurred. A paramedic was trapped in the passenger side with the door pinned shut.
Paramedics called two more ambulances, one for the paramedic injured in the crash and another for the medical call they were responding to.
“When you encounter an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights operating and siren activated, you’re required by state law to yield to that emergency vehicle and pull over to the right if safe to do so, or stop,” RCFD Public Information Officer Jim Bussell said. “Allow the emergency vehicle to clear the area and then proceed on your way.”
The paramedic’s injuries are reportedly non-life threatening.
