MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — As driving conditions worsened Monday evening, a Baltimore County ambulance slid and rolled over in Middle River.
“They didn’t even get off our street, and got caught up in the sheet of ice in the turn and didn’t get it stopped, blew out a tire and flipped over,” said Chief Dennis Dembeck of Middle River Volunteer Ambulance Rescue Co. “Fortunately, three members of the crew were all seat-belted in, and that probably kept them from being tossed about and injured.”
The rollover happened at 5:50 p.m. as the crew was leaving the Leland Avenue station for a call in Essex.
Immediately, the next-closest crew was dispatched, Dembeck said.
