NEW YORK — A 10-year-old boy is recovering after being struck by an FDNY ambulance on Oct. 29.
Officials said the incident occurred when the ambulance was crossing an intersection and hit the boy. The New York Post reported that Dante Brown, 10, was transported to the hospital in the same ambulance that struck him. Friends of Brown reported he sustained head wounds.
The ambulance, which was responding to a call, had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.
Residents in the area told NY1 the intersection where the crash occurred is dangerous.
The driver of the ambulance was not ticketed.
“He has a lot of wounds, but he is alive,” Dante’s mother said.
