WASHINGTON — The National 911 Program has released the 2017 National 911 Progress Report.

The report compiles the latest state and national data about 911 systems and is an important resource in improving emergency communications systems, according to a National 911 Program press release. The report summarizes data gathered from the 48 participating states and territories.

Some of the interesting findings in the report include the percentage of calls via Voice over Internet Protocol, also known as VoIP, and text-to-911 messages, which increased by 20 percent in the last year. Twenty-two states were in the installation and testing phase of NG911 component implementation, compared to 18 states in the previous year.
