Police make additional arrests in shooting of N.C. paramedic

KINSTON, N.C.. —  Police in Lenoir County have arrested two additional people related to the shooting of a paramedic on May 28.

Rahzion Blount and Dashawn Artis were arrested and charged with attempted murder and several other charges, WNCT reported.

A Lenoir County Emergency Services paramedic had been shot while loading a patient into an ambulance in Kinston on May 28. 

Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette told WITN a gray Toyota sedan was heading east on Marilyn Drive while a white vehicle was heading west. As the two cars passed each other, the passenger of the gray sedan began shooting at the white vehicle causing it to crash into an ambulance at an unrelated call. A person in the white vehicle got out and began shooting.

The paramedic was shot once in the chest and the arm. 

Blout and Artis are facing additional charges including accessory, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling for the distribution of a controlled substance, obtaining property by false pretense, and interfering with electric meters.
