NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Even the dog got shot.

A total of eight people, plus a dog, suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in a dispute over said dog, according to Nashville police.

Police had no information on who started the shooting just after 1 a.m. in downtown Nashville, and were still searching for two men, reported the Tennessean.

“Multiple patients with gunshot wounds” were discovered when first responders arrived, Nashville Fire Department Community Services Manager Joseph Pleasant told the Tennessean.

Several of them were hospitalized and at least one refused to go, Pleasant told the newspaper. Though their conditions were unknown Sunday, all had been alert and talking to paramedics.

Police told the newspaper that the shooting had happened after a bunch of people hanging out started arguing over a dog. The man whose dog it was pulled out a gun, then another man left the group, returning a few minutes later with his own gun, plus a bunch of other guys. All proceeded to exchange gunfire, with eight adults either hit or grazed by bullets, police told the Tennessean.

The dog, too, was shot, taking a hit in the hip. It was in stable condition Sunday at a veterinary hospital, WTVF-TV reported.

No arrests had yet been made, and police were mum on what if any charges would be levied.
