DeWayne Miller, RN, NREMT-P, CFRN, has been a flight nurse with West Michigan Air Care for 21 years. He has extensive experience as a paramedic and as a nurse in the emergency department and ICU. DeWayne teaches critical care transport classes and is an ACLS instructor at Bronson Methodist Hospital.

Since leaving a withering aerospace engineering career in 1994, Doug Page has been writing about technology, medicine, and marriage peril from the Panic Room in Pine Mountain, Calif. Dr. Alex Garza is the associate dean for public health practice and associate professor in epidemiology and emergency medicine at St. Louis Universities College of Public Health and Social Justice and the School of Medicine. He is also the medical director and homeland security advisor for FirstWatch Solutions, a software company specializing in data analysis and biosurveillance in EMS and public health. Dr. Garza served for four years as the assistant secretary and chief medical officer at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and has deployed to Africa as a civil affairs medical officer with the U.S. Special Operations.

David K. Tan, MD, EMT-T, FAEMS, is associate professor and chief of EMS in the division of emergency medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is double board-certified in Emergency Medicine and EMS Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Tan remains very active in EMS at the local, state and national levels as an operational medical director for local police, fire and EMS agencies. He is chairman of the Metropolitan St. Louis Emergency Transport Oversight Commission, vice-chairman of the Missouri State Advisory Council on EMS, and president of the National Association of EMS Physicians. Dr. Tan is a member of the EMS1 Editorial Advisory Board. He also provides medical direction to EMS1.com and the EMS1 Academy.
