JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. — A Mississippi EMT has been charged with DUI after a video was captured of an ambulance being driven erratically, reportedly with a patient inside.

American Medical Response EMT Kerstii Groce was arrested by Moss Point police on Saturday after another concerned motorist noticed the ambulance drifting on and off the road, began filming and called the police, according to WLOX.

The witness said he feared someone would be injured or killed and followed the ambulance honking and yelling for the rig to be pulled over. He said when the rig finally stopped he found another EMT and a patient in the back, and that Groce told him the crew was performing a non-emergency transport.

American Medical Response did not confirm any details about the incident but released a statement saying Groce was placed on unpaid leave.

“The safety of our team members and patients is of utmost importance to us, and the leave will remain in effect until the resolution of the investigation,” AMR said in its statement, according to WLOX.

Groce posted bail and was released on Sunday.
