NEW YORK — On Sept. 29, 2022, FDNY EMS Lieutenant Alison Russo was tragically killed in the line of duty. A wreath-laying ceremony was recently held at EMS Station 49 in Queens to honor her memory.

Russo, 61, served with the FDNY for 25 years and was on duty at Station 49 when she was fatally stabbed in an unprovoked attack near the station.

“It’s hard to imagine the squad without her,” said Huntington Community First Aid Squad Chief David Kaufman
EMS Captain Edgar Baez and Lieutenant Alison Russo used to respond to calls together in the Bronx decades ago

In recognition of her service, she was posthumously promoted to the rank of Captain.
