Calling all EMS photographers! EMS1 wants to see pictures of you in action or training. Submit a photo — it could be selected as our Photo of the Week! Be sure to include your name, department information and some background on the photo.

This week’s Photo of the Week comes from La Ronge EMS in Saskatchewan, Canada, which captured the stunning scenery during a late-night shift as the northern lights appeared in the sky. Photos taken by Paramedic Shawn Wollmann show the aurora borealis forming a picture-perfect backdrop for the crew and their rig.

Wollmann told La Ronge Now that he used an app to track when the northern lights would appear, and asked his supervisor’s permission to take the rig and his colleague Justice Horner to the best spot to capture the view. Wollmann said the photos were captured around 10:30 p.m., and that it was approximately -40 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees Fahrenheit) that night.
