CHESTERFIELD, Va. — Chesterfield, Virginia officials reported the death of Firefighter Recruit Tyvaughn Eldridge, 26, of Richmond, Virginia, on July 3.
Eldridge suffered a medical emergency during daily physical training on July 1. According to a department post, he was surrounded by family and members of Chesterfield Fire and EMS.
“We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and our sincere condolences go out to Firefighter Eldridge’s family and friends,” the department posted.
“This is a tragic loss of an amazing young man who made the commitment to serve his community. Firefighter Tyvaughn Eldridge will always be Chesterfield Fire and EMS family. We are all mourning this weekend.”
The department has requested privacy for the family.
