Md. firefighter/paramedic dies after 24-hour shift

LARGO, Md. — A firefighter/paramedic with the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department has died, the department announced on social media.

Firefighter/Paramedic Demair Lloyd had just completed his regular 24-hour shift at the end of May and was at home when he suffered a medical emergency, the department said. He joined the department in 2006 and served at Station 841 in Calverton.

“He was not only a valued teammate but also a dear friend, and his absence is deeply felt by all of us in our fire department family,” the department said.

The department said support is available for members through IAFF Local 1619 and the Office of Health and Wellness, including counselors and peer support teams.
