RICHLANDS, N.C. — The state has closed an investigation into a complaint filed against the Richlands Volunteer EMS/Rescue Squad, but a suspension issued by the county remains in effect for now.

The N.C. Office of Emergency Medical Services recently received a complaint into an alleged violation related to unearned continuing education credits but was not able to find evidence to confirm there was a rules violation, officials said.

“After a review of records, N.C. OEMS staff determined that a violation of the N.C. Administrative Code could not be substantiated. As a result, the complaint was closed with no further action taken,” said Kevin Howell, legal communications coordinator with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Communications.
