SOUTH BEND, Ind. — An Indiana paramedic who transported a wounded K-9 after a shooting earlier this month has launched a fundraiser to help support the brave dog and her handler.

South Bend Paramedic Adrienne Taylor was about to finish her shift on Oct. 13 when she got the call that K-9 Luna, of the St. Joseph County Police Department, had been shot in the line of duty, according to ABC 57.

Taylor transported Luna from an animal hospital to an emergency veterinary center where she needed to undergo emergency surgery.

Luna, who joined the police department in January of this year, is now recovering from her injuries. Taylor launched a fundraiser called “Luna Strong” and will be selling T-shirts with all proceeds going to Luna and her handler. The fundraiser can be found on Facebook.
