PAISLEY, Scotland — A paramedic squeezed through the small opening of a window to rescue a woman who fell and was lying on the floor.

A window cleaner spotted her and called for help, but firefighters weren’t able to access the home because the door was bolted shut, the Daily Record reported.

But paramedic Archie McCorkell, 44, saw a way in.

“I noticed that one of the wee hopper windows in the back was slightly ajar, so I said to the fire crew guys, ‘if you can get that window off, I’ll try to squeeze through,’” McCorkell said. “The space must have only been about eight inches deep, and when I had a look around the rest of the guys, it was obvious I was the only one who was going to have any chance of getting through.”

Although worried about getting stuck, he was able to wiggle his way in.

The elderly woman was suffering from hypothermia. She was transported to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital and is recovering.
