STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police from the 120 Precinct arrested an FDNY EMT on Friday after he was found with an array of police equipment stashed in his car, said an NYPD spokesman.
Robert Gala, 24, of Brooklyn, faces charges of possession of a forged instrument and criminal impersonation charges, police said.
In his possession Gala allegedly had two air pistols, five “police-style shields,” handcuffs, and plastic zip ties, said police.
According to published reports, he is the son of Deputy Assistant Chief Michael Gala, the FDNY’s chief of uniformed personnel.
EMT Gala has been suspended, according to a spokesman for the FDNY.
Gala has two prior arrests, said a police spokesman. However, he said he couldn’t elaborate on the nature of those arrests.
