NEW YORK — A FDNY EMT and a FDNY firefighter were arrested after fighting with police on Sunday.
Firefighter Aaron Gardner, 36, and EMT Janice Gardner, 35, were arrested just before 12:30 a.m. Monday while they were both off-duty, reported NBC New York.
Thirty NYPD police were attempting to break up a fight in a Brooklyn park when Gardner punched one of the officers. Her brother got involved as police tried to take her into custody.
“It was an absolute melee. People were tossing over barbecues, bottles were being thrown at cops,” a source told the Daily News.
The fight injured two men. A 47-year-old had lacerations to his head and body and a 22-year-old man had head wounds after being hit with a wooden stick.
Janice Gardner was charged with assault, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. Aaron Gardner was charged with attempted assault, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.
