S.C. firefighter-medic dies in vehicle crash on his way to work

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Firefighter-paramedic David Campbell died in a vehicle crash Friday in York County while on his way to work, the Rock Hill Fire Department announced on social media.
“He served on Engine 6, A-Shift and was truly well-liked throughout the Rock Hill Fire Department,” the Rock Hill Professional Firefighters Association said in a Facebook post.
Captain Mac Thomas expressed his sorrow on Facebook.
With the heaviest of hearts we share the loss of one of our own. FF/Paramedic David Campbell passed away this morning due to a vehicle accident on his way into work. “David made such an impact on each of us and we will always cherish those memories and good times,” Campbell posted.
Department members escorted his body to Chester County on Friday, WPDE reported.
Details on the crash were not available.
