RUSTON, La. — An EMT died Wednesday of complications from the flu, according to her EMS agency.
AirOne said in a Facebook post that EMT Karman Welker died while surrounded by family, friends and colleagues.
The Facebook post added that Welker was known as someone who “always had a smile on her face and an encouraging word for all that knew her.”
Facebook user Jerry Whitman described a time when Welker transported him to the hospital.
“Even though I was in bad shape, I will never forget how impressed I was with her,” he said. “She never knew that her demeanor, personality and professionalism provided encouragement at a time when I needed it most.”
AirOne said funeral arrangements will be announced when they are available.
