3 Russian medics severely beaten

Friends of the victim, who hung himself, attack medics

MOSCOW — Three paramedics unable to save the life of a young man who committed suicide in Russia’s fourth-largest city, Yekaterinburg, early Saturday morning were severely beaten up as they attempted to leave the area, local news site E1 reported, citing police.

The paramedics arrived about a half-hour after the young man had hanged himself in the bathroom of his family’s apartment, and a group of the man’s friends who came to the scene were none too happy about the explanation that the paramedics could not bring their friend back to life.

The friends — five or six men in their early 20s — beat the paramedics so severely that they knocked several teeth out and the paramedics had to call for police and another ambulance to rescue them, the report said.
