SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Firefighters and paramedics in San Diego are being trained on upgraded technology this month, including new devices that send electronic reports to hospitals before patients arrive, officials announced this week.
The new technology, dubbed TAP2, works with T-Mobile HTC phones used by ambulance and firefighter crews. While patients are en route to the hospital, the crews can fill out a questionnaire of personal information and vital signs and transmit it electronically to the hospital.
The 400 new phones cost about $120,000, said Reema Makani, spokeswoman for San Diego Medical Services.
