BARRE, Vt. — Barre City Fire and EMS has been growing at a healthy rate recently, fulfilling goals set out in a plan that was crafted two years ago.
The department has added a range of new medical technology that has already saved lives, according to Joe Aldsworth, a critical care paramedic and firefighter.
And two firefighters at the department have recently graduated from paramedic school, bringing the total number of paramedics at the department to four, which will mean a paramedic can be on duty on each of the four shifts. Three more Barre City Fire and EMS employees will be going to paramedic school this winter.
