Unique LifeEMS ambulance program allows qualifying patients to exchange volunteer service towards medical debt

PAW PAW, Mich. — A West Michigan business is helping patients in need pay off their medical bills by allowing them to volunteer their time.

LifeEMS Ambulance has had the program in place for around a decade. In it, qualifying patients pick a non-profit of their choice to volunteer their time to help lower or eliminate their debt. But be aware, that we’re told that a small percentage of applicants qualify.

It was time off work recovering from a broken ankle that allowed Mark Miner the free time to build a much-needed walk-in cooler for a Paw Paw food pantry.
