SHIVELY, Ky. — An ambulance rushing a woman to the hospital crashed on the way there. The patient inside died from the injuries she received in that wreck. It happened at the intersection of Rockford Lane and Van Hoose road in Shively. WAVE 3’s Shayla Reaves talked to police about what happened and they are hoping someone has a tip to help the investigation.
We don’t know why 54-year-old Vickie Whobrey was being taken to University Hospital. Whatever it was, we do know that it wasn’t what killed her.
“I just heard the explosion when all the sirens and stuff started coming,” said Ron Humphries, who lives near the crash scene. “I come outside and walk out and see these (power) lines lying down. They were a lot lower than normal so I stayed over that way.”
