VICTORIA, Aus. — A man died after his car ran into a bus in Springvale last week.
Witnesses said the Mitsubishi sedan was travelling north along Springvale Rd, near the Pope St intersection, when it hit the back of the stationary bus at 6.15pm on May 15.
Paramedics worked to stabilise the man’s condition while rescue crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release him. He died shortly after being extracted.
The four passengers on the route 885 bus to Glen Waverley were treated for minor injuries.
North-bound traffic on the road was diverted around the scene at Gray St after the bus spilled litres of oil on to the road.
As the Leader went to press, police were trying to establish the deceased driver’s identity. The accident raised Victoria’s 2007 road toll to 121, the same as this time last year.
