3 kids, 5 adults hurt in Chicago ambulance crash

Chicago Sun-Times

CHICAGO — A Chicago woman has been cited for failing to yield to an ambulance after a four-vehicle crash that left three children and five adults injured Saturday morning on the South Side.

Latoya Mayfield, 26, of the 1000 block of 104th Pl., was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to produce a driver’s license and for damage to city property, police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.

About 11:15 a.m., a Chicago Fire Department ambulance responding to a call -- with its sirens and lights activated -- was traveling through the intersection of 103rd and Morgan streets when it was struck by another vehicle that failed to yield to the ambulance, Chicago Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joseph Roccasalva said.
