BETHLEHEM, N.Y. — A Delmar-Bethlehem EMS member has been arrested for alleged misuse of his EMS credit card.

Bethlehem Police Department arrested Stephen J. Wieland Sr., 61, of Glenmont on Wednesday. He has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and scheming to defraud in the first degree. Wieland is a volunteer member of the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, and is the superintendent at the South Station in Selkirk.

Police say that while Wieland is not an EMT, he drove emergency vehicles responding to calls and also helped to maintain fleet vehicles. He then obtained a credit card that was assigned to one of the EMS vehicles. After years of volunteering with the EMT South Station in Selkirk, Bethlehem Police say the reputation of Wieland will be partially tarnished, all because of $1,400 worth of stolen gas.
