ROCKVILLE, Md. — Applications are now being accepted for rural EMS grants to fund recruitment, training and equipment.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is offering grants of up to $200,000 per year for up to four years to rural, local or tribal EMS departments as well as rural nonprofit EMS agencies.
Agencies awarded the grant will be required to train personnel on mental and substance use disorders, and how to care of patients with these disorders, as well as how to administer naloxone. The funds can also be used for general recruitment and training, including volunteer recruitment, and the purchase of personal protective equipment.
SAMHSA expects to distribute a total of $5,000,000 to 25 agencies.
The grant application window closes on March 30, 2020.
