GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Kentucky county officials are starting a paramedic educational training program that will give EMTs the opportunity to become certified at half the cost.
To retain and recruit paramedics, Georgetown-Scott county officials created a new paramedic program to help EMTs cover the $6,000 cost of getting certified, ABC 36 WTVQ said.
The Scott County fiscal court approved releasing $3,000 in funds at the start of the program and an additional $1,000 if the EMT signs up with the county.
“We hope that we can guarantee that we will have the staffing available to serve our community,” Scott County EMS Director Brandon Remley said.
There are currently two signed up under this program and four more that are interested, Remley said.
