NEW YORK — Sarah Ray says she did what any EMT or paramedic would have done.
Ray became a social media sensation when the photo picturing her helping at the scene of a crash in her wedding dress went viral online, gathering 1.4 million views.
Ray had just married Paul Ray, also an EMT, and was on her way to her wedding reception when she received a call from her father saying he, her grandfather and grandmother had gotten involved in a crash.
“This was not a heroic action,” Ray said. “It was my family.”
She also said, however, that she would have stopped anyway if she witnessed a crash.
“We just hope that this picture is something positive for the EMS profession as a whole,” Ray said on The View. “Shining a positive light on first responders.”
The Rays, who were unable to take a honeymoon, were presented a cruise vacation by the show hosts.
