NEW YORK — A 5-year-old boy who was carried from his Bronx home by EMS providers in hazmat suits has tested negative for the virus.

The child experienced a 103-degree fever and vomiting after returning from Guinea Saturday night, the NY Post reported. Five family members were quarantined inside their apartment.

He was transported to Bellevue Hospital on Sunday, and an initial test showed no sign of the virus, according to a statement from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. He is being held at the hospital for further tests, Bloomberg reports.

“Out of an abundance of caution, further negative Ebola tests are required on subsequent days to ensure that the patient is cleared,” the health department said in the statement.
