BLACKSTOCK, S.C. — A father and his sister used CPR to save a 2-year-old girl who wandered outside Sunday afternoon and was found floating in a nearby pond.

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a Blackstock home on Great Falls Highway, where they found family and rescue squad members tending to the toddler, according to an incident report.

The girl’s father told police she had been in the home with four adults and other children playing, but when he went to check on them, the 2-year-old was not with the others, according to the report.

The adults went outside and spread out in different directions to find the child, the report states. The father walked to the front of the residence towards a pond and saw the girl in the pond floating 15 feet from the bank, the report states. She was unresponsive.

The man and his sister performed CPR on the girl until she started to breath, the report states.

The girl is breathing on her own and is recovering at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, according to a relative.
