SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — A tearful reunion between a paramedic mom and her three children was captured on video after she returned home from assisting with COVID-19 patients in New York.

Paramedic Leilani Lemonier returned home after working 12-hour shifts for 42 days in Nassau County, 19 News reported.

“Their call volume was massive, I mean they were getting stomped into the ground, so we rolled in about 15 squads and basically took over 911 calls,” Lemonier said. “I would say 80% of our call volume was [COVID-19] patients. I saw oxygen saturation’s as low as 50.”

Lemonier wanted to help but was concerned about how her children would handle the separation: 19-year-old Alivia, 17-year-old Adrianna and 10-year-old Kale. After a family discussion, they agreed Lemonier should volunteer.

On Monday, she was told she could return home, and with the help of her boyfriend, planned a surprise reunion for her kids.

During the video, when the kids realized their mother was standing in the yard, her oldest daughter yelled, “I told you she was gonna come back!”

Since returning home, Lemonier checks her temperature twice a day but has not noticed any symptoms of the virus.
