MAYVILLE, N.D. — In a close call, a paramedic was nearly hit by a semi truck while responding to a crash scene Monday night.
Paramedic Stefan Hofer was in the process of transporting crash victims from a ditch when the incident occurred.
“I walked out of the ambulance and going to my truck we saw this semi coming down the interstate, and he missed the suburban by six or seven feet and then went into the ditch and jack-knifed right beside us,” Hofer told WDAY.
Hofer said another ambulance had been parked minutes before where the semi crashed. He said it was “probably the scariest thing I’ve encountered in my 20 years.”
Following the incident, officials stress the importance of slowing down when emergency vehicles are present.
