PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida firefighter-EMT reunited with the firefighter who helped save her father and inspired her to become a first responder.
Palm Beach County Firefighter-EMT Danielle Bove said Delray Beach Fire Department Driver-Operator Crystal White stood out to her as she watched first responders treat her dad five years ago.
"She personally inspired me, just being a female, not knowing that, 'Hey, you can do this," Bove said in a video of the reunion posted by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. "I'm from a small town, I didn't know that you could do it. I didn't know this world existed. And fast forward to now, 2021, I'm a firefighter-EMT at Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
The reunion with White, who is also the EMS clinical coordinator at Palm Beach State College, was arranged as a surprise, officials said. Bove will complete her probationary year with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue in a few months.
