CHICAGO — A Junior High School teacher in a Chicago suburb has died after choking on a hot dog at a Chicago Cubs game Sunday at Wrigley Field.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Maureen Oleskiewicz, 28, was at the game with her brother, sitting in the bleachers, when she started choking.

Chicago CBS affiliate, WBBM, reports that Oleskiewicz received CPR in the stands before being taken to an area hospital. She died on Tuesday from her injuries.

“There is no magic wand to fix what we cannot comprehend,” said District 128 Superintendent Kathleen Casey. “Maureen had a positive impact on countless students, parents and colleagues. Her vibrant, positive outlook on life and her joyful nature will be missed more than words can convey.”

Following the fan’s death, the Chicago Cubs issued a statement, saying, “The Chicago Cubs are saddened to hear news of the untimely death of Maureen Oleskiewicz. We express our deepest sympathy to her family and friends. We will continue to keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
