SEYMOUR, Ind. — A father faces charges after allegedly refusing to call 911 as his young son died of a massive meth overdose.

The Tribune reported that Curtis Collman III, 8, died June 21 with 180 times the lethal limit of methamphetamine in his bloodstream, according to toxicology reports.

Police said the boy was in the care of his father, Curtis Collman II, when he ingested the methamphetamine. Collman took the boy to his grandparents’ house, where he became unresponsive.

Court documents said Collman refused to call 911 to try and save his son, and threatened others who tried to call for help with a gun, according to USA Today.

Responders arrived after a family friend was able to call police. Collman had fled the scene by the time they arrived.

Collman was arrested and faces charges of intimidation with a firearm, neglect resulting in the death of a dependent and possession of methamphetamine.
