Hungary’s paramedic motorcycles make for swift rescues

Don’t automatically assume if you see a motorcycle with a siren and blue lights behind you on one of Hungary’s highways that it is the police.

The drivers of at least some of these motorcycles are not interested in stopping you, but in hurrying to where other unfortunate road users have already been stopped — at the site of an accident.

Zsombor Kunetz, an ambulance medic (a crew consists of a driver and a doctor), initiated the introduction of paramedic motorcycles a year ago for faster and more efficient intervention after an accident.
