MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — A firefighter-paramedic has gone viral after photos were taken of him nursing a hummingbird back to health.
In a Facebook post, the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District shared photos of firefighter-paramedic Dave Schurwan nursing a ruby throated hummingbird after “finding it unresponsive on the engine bay floor.”
“Dave used a syringe filled with sugar water to coax the bird to drink until it became more alert and flew out of his palm.”
The images have drawn hundreds of reactions from Facebook users and have been shared more than 142 times.
