FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — The Franklin County nursing home will have eight emergency medical technicians available to transport non-emergency patients to medical appointments.

The Franklin County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center last year began running its own routine transport service for residents to save taxpayers money. The county had previously contracted with local fire and ambulance companies.

The county has a list of four EMTs to call for transports. They are casual part-time. When none of the four are available, the county must contract for the transportation, according to Administrator Dr. Barry Parks. The positions will be listed on the county Website http://www.co.franklin.pa.us/HR/Pages/CareerOpportunites.aspx.
