LAUREL, Md. — A fire department donated an ambulance to help a community that was affected by Hurricane Harvey.

ABC2News.com reported that the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department donated the used 2008 ambulance to the East Montgomery County Fire Department in Texas. The firefighters are flying to Maryland to drive the ambulance back to Texas.

The LVFD said they wanted to help after seeing the devastation caused by the hurricane. When they called to see how they could help, the EMCFD told them they were in need of an ambulance.

LVFD officials said they just added a new ambulance to their fleet, so it was an easy decision to donate one to the department in need.
