FORT WORTH, Texas — A MedStar ambulance, parked at a hospital, was hijacked by a knife-wielding man. Cameras aboard the stolen ambulance show a man speeding for blocks through Fort Worth, and running a red light before crashing into a fence.
Kenneth Darrell Golightly, 29 was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, NVCDFW.com reports.
Police say the ambulance was pulled over at John Peter Smith Hospital as crew members were completing paperwork when Golightly opened the driver’s door, demanded the ambulance, and pulled out a knife.
He then drove off in the vehicle. Cameras aboard the ambulance show him reaching speeds of more than 70 miles per hour, then crashing through a fence and leaving the ambulance. A witness followed him until police arrived and placed him under arrest.
The ambulance will be repaired and put back into service.
