NASHVILLE — An ambulance service in Tennessee was able to help out a bride by transporting her brother-in-law, who has advanced ALS, to the wedding.

According to a Facebook post on the First Call Ambulance Service’s Facebook page, Nathan Ashley wanted to attend his sister-in-law Alena’s wedding, but family members were unsure he would be able to attend.

Ashley’s wife, Kathleen, called First Call Ambulance Service to see if they could help transport Nathan to the wedding. On the day of the wedding, paramedic Richard Honeycutt and AEMT Aubrey Beal picked Ashley up from his home and transported him to Alena’s wedding.

“I was proud to help Nathan get to the wedding,” Honeycutt said. “It was very touching to me to be able to make this dream come true for Nathan and his family.”

Beal said it was not only a special day for the family, but for him as well.

“To be able to make a positive difference in the lives of others is why I chose a career in EMS,” he said.

After the wedding, Kathleen sent a note to First Call to thank them for going above and beyond.

“I cannot express to you how thankful I am that you all were able to do this for us. Nathan and Alena are so close, and it meant so much to him to be there to see her get married. It was a very emotional time for all of us,” she said.
