Texas firefighter-paramedic recovering after ambulance crash

Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighter-paramedic Nicholas Granados suffered a collapsed lung, a fractured rib and other injuries after a truck crashed into his ambulance

DALLAS — A firefighter-paramedic who was injured in an ambulance crash Sunday is expected to make a full recovery, according to officials.

DFW CBS reported that Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighter-paramedic Nicholas Granados suffered a collapsed lung, a fractured rib and multiple other injuries after a driver crashed into the ambulance in which he and his partner were responding to a call.

“Despite the challenging road ahead, he is thankful to be in the company of his immediate family, friends and loved ones to help him along,” DFR said in a statement. “He also wishes to thank everyone who has reached out to him with their will-wishes, thoughts and prayers.”

The driver of the other vehicle died as a result of the crash. Granados’ partner suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital the same day.
